Project Updates: August

Given a bizarre and tragic set of circumstances, I have 2.5 months off from work.  I need to use this time wisely and I have some projects that I want to work on. Here’s the list of projects and their statuses:

Beyond Beauty- Active

  • Character sketches and design- In progress (Should be finished by the end of the month)
  • Finish Script for Part 1 (Ch 1- 5)- (I have about 3 chapters left)
  • Design webcomic website
  • Look at webcomic collectives
  • Determining web comic release date (Production starts in September)
  • Set up Project Wonderful
  • The entire comic should take about 4-5 months to create in it’s entirety. (Debating whether to wait until the comic is finished before release or releasing simultaneously)
  • It’ll probably have a run time of 6 months to a year depending on the number of pages and the update schedule.

It’s All Relative- In Progress
I have everything pretty much fleshed out on this one, at least enough to run for a couple story arcs. I need to research beginnings and research artists. I hope to have chapter one script complete by October. This is more of a long term story. It has a definite end, but I’m not sure how long it’ll take to get there. I wanted to wrap it up pretty quickly, but I think it wouldn’t do the story justice to make it a quick story. Production is planned to begin in Jan 2013 and with the release to start in Summer 2013.

Demons and Demigods- On Hold
This will be a shift in gears from the fairy tale retellings and IAR. It’s more of a paranormal high school story. I’m not sure if I want to just be a straight graphic novel or go through the web comic form. A couple of chapters have been written, but I might have to go back and rewrite some of the chapters so that they have a better flow.

A.C.E.S.- On Hold
This started as an interim project to do between projects, but I want to contain it a bit. It is a story that can go on for a while, but I want it to end with a contained storyline. I pretty much have the storyline and everything fixed. This might be the next project after Beyond Beauty is completed (the end being successful kickstarter campaigns with print editions).

Untitled Web SerialIn progress
I’ve been wanting to do a web serial for a while, but I haven’t had any ideas. I kind of just want to jump into the mix with a standard story and just go from there. I was a little too distracted to work on this earlier in the month for WeSeWriMo, but I just want  get the characters and some plot, then just jump into the fray go for it minimal editing and all that good stuff. I kind of just want to go for it now before I chicken out and go crazy trying to edit this. Plus I want a project that is only dependent on myself so that I don’t have to go and find an artist (except for illustrations possibly). I just need to find an editor (I have Nerdfighting writer friends, so this wouldn’t be too hard) and a cover designer, but that’s cheaper than a full blown artist.

Beyond Beauty

Beyond Beauty, A Beauty and the Beast Retelling
Type: Graphic Novel

August P. Hitch comes from a long line of hunters who protect the village from magical creatures. Unfortunately, the hunting gene seems to have skipped over him. August is clumsy, uncoordinated, and gets sick at the sight of blood. Through sheer dumb luck and determination (but mostly luck), August has made it to the final hunting test: go into the forbidden forest and kill a magical creature. When August is saved by the shape shifting forest spirit, Elu, he discovers amazing but dangerous powers that can bridge the human world and the magical world together. But when the hunters decide to expand the territory, will August use his new powers and stand up for what’s right? Or will he discover that he is powerless to stop a war that has been waging on for generations? A unique twist on the classic  Beauty and the Beast tale and inspired by Miyazaki’s Princess Mononoke.
